The soul of India resides in the villages. As villages are the base of the Indian economy because India is mainly an agricultural country. But the irony is that the farmers and the village, who contribute so much are not awarded properly. Like villages do not even get basic necessities as electricity, which is a basic requirement of daily life.
Is life possible without electricity in the 21st century?
These days we have seen much technology which has been running with the help of electricity, only there would be no other substitute for that. As the thirst of human being is been covered by water in the same way electricity can only fulfill its need. All the technological advancement is only possible if there is electricity.
How farmers suffer without electricity?
Farmers are greatly dependent on electricity for irrigation, for running automatic machines for farming and also harvesting the crops. The main requirement for electricity is for 4 months. During these 4 months there is no surety whether electricity is supplied or not. After completion of 4 months electricity department sends a bill which is beyond the capacity of farmers to pay.
Not only, their is the problem of electricity, the farmer’s family too has to suffer problems of this short supply of electricity. Children are not able to study; they would be fixing their work according to the supply of electricity only. There is plenty of work which is purely based on electricity. Nowadays, we all know that our country is getting digital. Will this digitalization in villages suffice the need of the farmers in the absence of electricity.
Next option for electricity is taking connection from the distributor companies. If farmers or villagers could be adopted by a company, wind mills can be installed there as a permanent solution of electricity.
Wind mill as electricity provider?
A windmill is a type of engine. It uses the wind to make energy. The blades used in wind mill rotate clockwise and makes energy. This is also known by the name wind turbines. The energy generated from wind mill can be used for many purposes. The latest wind mills can be used to generate electricity for mainly irrigation work.
Windmills dates back in history to the 9th century when the first windmill with long vertical sharp shafts with rectangular shaped blades were installed in Persia. Now it’s time for India to wake up because its 21st century and now we have to think about the rural area where we are not having the power supply or less power supply.
Advantages related to wind mills are as follows:
- The fuel which is being used in wind turbines are the clean source of resources. Wind resources are never ending resources. Therefore wind is a renewable source of energy.
- Although wind turbines can be very tall each takes up only a small plot of land. This means that the land below can still be used. This is especially the case in agricultural area as farmer can still continue farming.
- Single household, small towns and villages can make good use of wind turbines available today.
- Wind turbines can be built in remote location far from cities where the electricity is needed for agricultural purpose by farmers; wind energy can be used directly as mechanical energy.
- Wind energy creates job, according to wind vision report, wind has the potential to support more than 600000 jobs in manufacturing, installation, maintenance and supporting services by 2050.
We’ve seen the advantages related to wind turbines in our society. Here we are with some Drawbacks that can be harmful in the following ways:
- It’s widely reported that wind turbines pose a threat to wildlife, primarily birds and bats. It is believed that wind turbines pose less of a threat to wildlife than other manmade structure.
- Wind turbines are best suited to coastal regions which receive wind throughout the year to generate power.
- Wind can never be predicted, in areas where wind doesn’t blow or wind’s strength is too low to support wind turbines, installation is not beneficial.
Suggestion
According to me the government has done their best to feed the backward society. Now it’s time for the companies to help in the country’s development which is fully dependent on agriculture land and farmer. If the company with a normal rate of profit is going to invest their capital in development of rural area with no electricity then they can convert that rural area in developed cities. So finally the companies should adopt the villages to provide the better life style.
Conclusion
Finally JNICSR would like to put forward that the companies with their Corporate Social Responsibility capital should provide electricity to a village where there is a need of electricity. So that they can be more advanced like other advanced towns or cities. Through electricity farmer’s children are going to get better education and through that they would be helping their parents in providing modern and advanced technology.
